Psychological Services and
DBT Centre of Red Deer
Petro Palykhata. My life journey, that at times felt like a fight for survival, has turned into a quest for purpose and meaning. I have found them in assisting others to find what most of us hope for: joy, strength, meaningful and satisfying relationships and work; and in general a life worth living. I lived in many countries and befriended individuals of many backgrounds and walks of life. Ability to relate and empathise became one my strengths. I practiced counselling in the United States for 8 years before making Alberta my home. I am a registered psychologist (#4122) and have been practicing clinical and counselling psychology at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury for 4 years. My education and work experience uniquely qualifies me for the treatment of complex mental health problems and common individual, family, and couples issues. In my practice I draw on such therapeutic modalities as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and faith based counselling. I strive to ensure that my clients are treated professionally and with kindness, and respect. I am fluent in English, Ukrainian and Russian.
