Group for Family and Friends
At times family members and friends of individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder find themselves struggling with stress, worry, trust and other relationship issues that accompany living with or being a friend to a person with BPD.
Sessions strive to foster greater understanding and acceptance of oneself and persons with BPD. They provide information about the underlining factors causing such stress and worry, educate about the disorder & treatment options, teach effective methods of communicating and "setting boundaries" with your loved one, equip participants with tools to defuse anger, validate emotional responses, and work toward rebuilding safety and trust. Participants also learn DBT skills to manage their own stress.
Group meets for 1.5 hours once a week for 6 consecutive weeks and has a set curriculum. Participants are encouraged to complete all 6 sessions. The maximum capacity of the support group is 14 people. Group will begin as soon as we have at least 4 participants. Tuition for the group is $480 for a single person and $320 for the second family member.
Participants are not obligated to have a relative in therapy with us.
